Recently I had a nasty “totally accidental” fall, resulting in very “eina” pelvic fractures & other damage.
Thankfully after months of nasty mind-bending painkillers I’ve basically recovered.
I was lucky … could have been a broken hip, or worse!
It has been reported that one in five falls causes a serious injury, such as a broken bone or head injury.
This debilitating experience brought home to me just how easy it is to fall, especially as one ages.
Please read my website blog “How to fall-proof your home”. Read each point carefully. Some of the most serious injuries among older adults, age 65 and older, are caused by falling. More than 1.6 million older Americans end up in the emergency room or hospital because of a fall, according to the National Institutes of Health. Seniors who have broken a hip by falling can have trouble recovering and regaining mobility.
Prevention is most definitely better than cure!
Here’s to ageing gracefully – as pain & problem free as possible. A bit more attention to one’s personal requirements & the environment will definitely help.
Regards,
Leon.
